On the above topic (Scholars believe...), societies have a right to different views on sexual morality. Yet, we must beware overpenalizing natural human instincts. A certain brand of feminism might be regarded as the New Puritanism, in which sexual straitjackets of thought itself are imposed for ideological reasons that border on the irrational. It's not that the young should not be protected, but sometimes the hysteria about what they've supposedly done or been involved in is more harmful than is the youthful experimentation.
It is also counterproductive to decree that adults should not have fantasies about younger people. That does not excuse exploitation. Yet we must beware of setting up some kind of vindictive Thought Police who are ever on the lookout for dirty minds in our Super Surveillance State.
